Normally, cruise ships coming back to South Florida arrive early in the morning, which is fantastic for passengers who’ve earlier travel arrangements home. It isn’t really so wonderful, for cruisers on later plane tickets out of the area, as they end up finding themselves losing a good chunk of a day sitting around one of the area’s air terminals.
Key in Royal Caribbean, which is examining a brand new “extended stay” alternative for travelers finishing trips at its Fort Lauderdale terminal which includes transportation to the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk in nearby Hollywood, Fl.Excursions come complete with a day of shopping, discovering and sunbathing prior to a transfer to an air-port on time for late-day departures.
For just $35 to $40 per person, the “Extended Day — Hollywood City Pass” bundle, introduced Monday by Royal Caribbean CEO Adam Goldstein on his blog, also includes convenient bag storage. The Cruise line will keep up to two bags per person while they visit the Hollywood area and then deliver them straight to the air-port, where travelers can pick them up.
The package includes use of a hospitality center in Hollywood, FL and a trolley pass that provides access to downtown Hollywood shops and restaurants. Discounts are available at a large number of businesses in the area when using the City Pass discount card.
