Starting a new tradition in Downtown Hollywood, FL.
The City of Hollywood’s 1st Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the ArtsPark at Young Circle will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Come join the fun as the City ushers in the holiday season by lighting a 30 foot tree on the west side of the park’s main plaza amid the tropical palms.
The ArtsPark will take on the look of a winter wonderland and experience its first ever “snowfall.” Special effect lighting will add to the ambience creating a pattern of dancing snowflakes throughout the plaza. Be sure to experience this taste of winter just before Santa makes his grand entrance onboard a fire engine. The park will also feature a Hanukkah menorah and a Kwanzaa display. In the Visual Arts Building, area youth and other community organizations will be able to take part in a tree decorating contest. Small prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. This event also kicks off the annual Toys for Tots campaign.
The Tree Lighting will follow the regularly scheduled Funtastic Fridays for Kids event in the park which includes face painting, games and bounce houses. This event is open to the public and FREE of charge. ArtsPark at Young Circle is located on Hollywood Boulevard and US 1.
